L.B. Foster Installs New Blastec® Machine for Structural
Steel Fabrication
Company expects to increase production efficiency
at Georgetown, MA plant

Foster Precise Structural Products recently installed
a new 8-wheel Blastec® machine
in their Georgetown, MA facility. “This state-of-the-art
equipment was purchased to improve production rates
and overall product quality in their blast and paint
process by boosting line speeds and increasing machine
reliability and performance,” said Don Foster,
Senior Vice President, Construction Products.
According
to Jack Klimp, General Manager of Precise Structural
Products, “The new equipment provides a consistent,
high quality surface preparation. As a structural steel
fabrication industry leader, we now have a more effective
way to prepare the steel for the highly sophisticated
three-coat paint systems that engineers specify today.
And we have virtually eliminated the maintenance issues
that we had with our older equipment.”
The
company’s Georgetown facility is AISC certified
and specializes in the fabrication of structural steel
for the bridge and buildings markets.
